Calix forms relationship with Microsoft

PETALUMA, Oct. 24, 2007 – Calix announced that an agreement with Microsoft will enable interoperability between the Calix network access products and the Microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol Television and multimedia software platform.

Calix will license Microsoft Mediaroom products to simulate the Microsoft platform in a development and testing environment.

Microsoft Mediaroom is designed for service providers to deliver connected TV service and other entertainment experiences to consumers. The Calix access products enable the delivery of rich, multimedia service environments, providing the capacity necessary to support advanced Internet Protocol TV services.

According to Calix Vice President of Field Operations John Colvin, the agreement will "enable carriers to enter the IPTV market quickly, and with the advantages of Microsoft Mediaroom's compelling connected TV user experience, across the full portfolio of bandwidth-rich and cost-effective Calix solutions."
