Fireman’s Fund names new president and CEO

NOVATO, March 6, 2008 -- Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. named Michael LaRocco president and chief executive officer this week, though he will officially take office March 17.

Mr. LaRocco was chosen by Fireman’s Fund's board of directors and worked most recently as president and CEO for Seattle-based Safeco, a $5 billion property casualty insurer. Mr. LaRocco will report to Chuck Kavitsky, who is the president and CEO of Allianz CE, Fireman’s parent company. Prior to joining Safeco, the 30-year insurance veteran worked in different senior management positions for the Geico Corp., Superior Insurance and the Progressive Corp.

Fireman’s Fund is a $6 billion property casualty firm based in Novato and is Marin’s second-largest private-sector employer with more than 1,100 employees.
