Verizon extends wireless broadband up Highway 101 and out to coast

NORTH BAY, April 16, 2008 -- Verizon announced today it has expanded its high-speed wireless broadband network up the Highway 101 corridor from Santa Rosa to Cloverdale, and out to coastal Sea Ranch.

Other areas where the Verizon high-speed broadband is offered for the first time are Clearlake, Lakeport and Middletown in Lake County, and Ukiah, Willits, Laytonville, Fort Bragg and Hopland in Mendocino.

Napa and Solano counties already receive it.

"Our broadband network expansion has something for everyone on-the-go," said Rich Garwood, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "BroadbandAccess allows our business customers to experience a truly untethered mobile office with remote access to corporate data on their laptops and e-mail on their PDAs. With V Cast consumers can enjoy a comprehensive selection of downloadable music, high-quality videos and 3D games."

The business service provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits to 1.4 megabits per second, and average upload speeds of 500 to 800 kpbs.
