Santa Rosa Hyatt completes $3 million renovation
NEW BARS, RESTAURANT, OUTDOOR FIRE PIT; OPTIONS EXPLORED FOR EMPTY PLOT
Monday, August 11, 2008
The changes include a new lobby bar and back patio with a red glass-filled fire pit to add to the redesigned Brasserie and bar.
Nothing has been done yet with the plot of land in front of the hotel on West Third Street that was purchased by Noble Investment last year. One of the options that has been discussed is putting in retail space. Whatever the decision may be, however, the owners are looking at about a two-year timeline.
“We have to figure out what direction we want to go with it and then find out what direction the city will let us go with it,” said Gary Collins, director of sales and marketing for the hotel.
The Brasserie remodel was completed on July 11 and includes a complete redesign of the inside of the restaurant and a show kitchen where patrons can see the food being prepared.
In addition to the redesign, the kitchen boasts local fare. Roughly 90 percent of the food comes from within 60 miles of the hotel.
The bar’s revamp was completed on July 25 and has an extended patio outdoors that is accessible through a panel of glass doors. It is complete with a fireplace mirroring the one inside.
The new bar in the hotel lobby serves high-end wine and liquor and specializes in wines not normally sold by the glass.
The renovations are not solely physical, as management is trying to focus on the guests’ experience also. Mr. Collins comes with a background of high-end resorts and wants to bring that kind of experience to the hotel guests.
“We tried to determine where we could drive the guests’ experience,” Mr. Collins said. The hotel spa has had a facelift as well and is offering a wide selection of services.
