North Valley Bank in Santa Rosa appointed David Brown regional president in Santa Rosa. Pati Oliver was hired as vice president and business development officer, and Amber Forkey was promoted to assistant vice president and branch services manager.

Business Organizations

Roy Gugliotta was hired as president and CEO of the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce. He has more than 20 years of experience in the management of small to medium-sized enterprises, including a recent position as CEO of the Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce in Arizona.

Education

Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa named David Smock academic dean. Mr. Smock was most recently assistant head of school and academic dean at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay.

The school also hired six new faculty members for the 2008-2009 academic year. Joining the world languages faculty are Steven Gauntt, Spanish instructor, and Nancy Dohertry, French instructor. Lisa Zavieh and Wade Nasholds were hired to teach in the math-science faculty; Katherine Crowley joined the humanities faculty; and Margaret Pugh will be a part-time learning strategist and educational support coordinator.  

Health Care

Santa Rosa dentist Dr. John Buzza was awarded “Mentor” status at the Kois Center in Seattle, Wash. The Kois Center is a dental training program.

Hospitality

Dominie Lenz was appointed opening general manager at Cavallo Point Lodge.  Cavallo Point Lodge in the former Fort Point is San Francisco Bay’s first national park lodge.

 

Insurance

Allstate Insurance Co. in Santa Rosa recognized Lawrence Lehr of Santa Rosa with its Agency Affiliation award for reaching an important milestone as an exclusive Allstate insurance agency owner.

Law

John Edson joined the San Rafael law firm Keegin Harrison Schoppert Smith & Karner LLP.  

Manufacturing

DriWater in Santa Rosa appointed Bruce Curtis as marketing director. Mr. Curtis worked previously for Toellner Systems. DriWater is a biodegradable water gel that is primarily used to water plants, shrubs and trees.

Nonprofit Organizations

Bill Keene was hired by the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District as assistant general manager overseeing administrative services, governmental affairs, public outreach and stewardship. He joins the district from the Sonoma County Water Agency.  

Technology

Petaluma-based Teknovus promoted co-founder and vice president of engineering Ed Boyd to chief technology officer and hired Dave Malloy as vice president of engineering. Mr. Malloy’s career spans more than 25 years in executive engineering positions with communication companies. Teknovus provides Ethernet Passive Optical Network chips for the deployment of triple-play services in broadband access networks.

Wine

Shannon Donnell was named to the new position of grower relations representative/luxury brands for Brown-Forman in Windsor. Ms. Donnell will focus on ultra-premium brands Sanctuary, Sonoma-Cutrer and Fetzer Coro Mendocino.  Cindy Johnson was named to Brown-Forman’s Hopland grower relations team as grower relations representative for the Central Coast and Northern Interior growing regions.

 

Captûre, a wine estate in Alexander Valley, hired Benjamin Sharp as founding president and CEO. Mr. Sharp was formerly an executive at Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates.



Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards & Winery promoted Peggy Furth to co-chairman and CEO. Ken Born, who has worked with the Furths for the past 12 years, was named president and chief operating officer, and Kerry Manahan-Ehlow was named vice president of sales and marketing. Ms. Manahan-Ehlow brings more than 22 years experience in the high-end segment of the wine industry, including work at Robert Mondavi Winery, Kendall-Jackson and Matanzas Creek.
