Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa named David Smock academic dean. Mr. Smock was most recently assistant head of school and academic dean at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay.The school also hired six new faculty members for the 2008-2009 academic year. Joining the world languages faculty are Steven Gauntt, Spanish instructor, and Nancy Dohertry, French instructor. Lisa Zavieh and Wade Nasholds were hired to teach in the math-science faculty; Katherine Crowley joined the humanities faculty; and Margaret Pugh will be a part-time learning strategist and educational support coordinator.

Mr. Malloy’s career spans more than 25 years in executive engineering positions with communication companies. Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards & Winery promoted Peggy Furth to co-chairman and CEO. Ken Born, who has worked with the Furths for the past 12 years, was named president and chief operating officer, and Kerry Manahan-Ehlow was named vice president of sales and marketing. Ms. Manahan-Ehlow brings more than 22 years experience in the high-end segment of the wine industry, including work at Robert Mondavi Winery, Kendall-Jackson and Matanzas Creek.
